Omaha World-Herald Exploring Adviser
Colin Leick could be the man to save the world.
Perhaps that’s a bold claim, but the 17-year-old junior at Fremont High School has a plan. He wants to help business people and defenders of nature work together, to find a common interest that might better protect the planet and its creatures.
At the moment, his biggest strength is designing video games. There may be a way to apply that talent, he reasons, to helping the cause. It’s not as if he has expendable income, he said, so he has to work with what he does well.
“If I had a few billion dollars, I could make the world a whole lot better,” he said.
But he doesn’t, so he’ll need to learn to connect the two parties to find common ground.
It’s crucial to him.
“Knowing that somebody’s life is being snuffed out,” he said, “I want to protect that.”
